Halloween or how to live through a night of terror

As we get close to Halloween, all us allergy parents start to get a little anxious about that free candy that we send our kids out to beg for. In lots allergy-related blogs, websites, magazines and the like, we’re encouraged to create cute allergy-free “alternative” confections for our food-allergic children.

Let’s face it- a) we don’t have the time or the skills to make these little confectionary wonders and b) our kids want what the other kids get to eat. Am I right?

So, below is a short list of things we know are peanut and tree nut free. They are also free of other allergens, but not all. As always, read labels.

– all Tootsie roll brand products (yes, all of them, even those cute Andes mints)
– CT’s own PEZ
-Double bubble
-dum dum pops
-regular size Dove chocolate bars (yes, it true)

Hopefully this list will get your started. As we find additional products on our never ending quest for peanut-free deliciousness, we’ll keep you posted.

And for you parents, we hear Cisco Brewers from Nantucket makes a gluten free beer…….
